Anyone have knowledge about California's Community Property Laws? In particular a Credit Card judgement against a spouse? The question here is - can a judgement against a spouse result in a lien against a Mobile Home property that was purchased, financed and completely paid for by the wife. The wife has the California Deed in her possession. Does the California Community Property Law take away her right to buy and own this Mobile Home by herself?

Hi Jdfel,

California is a community property State. Thus, lien can be put on the home bought by the wife though debt has been incurred by her husband. Can you tell which deed is it that the wife has in her possession? However, if a lien is put on your home that necessarily does not mean that you won't have the right to buy home.

Thanks,

Aaron
