how to reply summon from civil court

I have purchased material from band saw producing company.
I have placed order for at pune (maharashtra) office, production of the company at ankleshwar gujrat. I have received delivery but 70% material has been returned due to rejection and 30% payment balance. The party has not issued the credit note for material returned. I am having the acknowledgement of material returned. NOW the party has launched complaint at civil court ankleshwar gujrat and i have received a summon from ankeshwar civil court. Now my question is I have done total dealing at pune (maharashtra) office then why should i go to ankleshwar civil court and can i reply by mail only? or should i have to go at ankleshwar?
If i can reply by mail how much days before i should mail from hearing date? pl. advice its urgent
