Hello all :),

I have two accounts in collection, I know that I owe them both and I will be attempting a pay for delete for one of them at this time. The other account is showing an incorrect balance on my report and the incorrect balance was also stated when I contacted the CA. What can I do about this second account? Thanks for any help!

you still need to go through all the steps.

get your Annual Credit reports from all three.

send DV or 623 letters to both CAs

if they have correct info then negotiate the PFD

what state are you in?
what kind of debt?
when was the last payment made?

I'm in New York. These are medical debts and payments have not been made. The debts are deductibles that I let get away from me. The only issue I have right now is the second debt that I mentioned is reporting an incorrect balance.

The CB's are reporting a wrong balance? Ok...CINNGRL is correct about writing the letters. However...I'm just curious about something. Do you have a bill or a receipt showing the CORRECT balance? I would send that to all three CB's. Also....did you check the SOL, of the debt, on your CR?

what is the dofd of these debts. it is 180 days after last payment.

a DV letter should explain how the balance was calculated

Hi,

Sdchargers has got a good point :) . If you have any proof of the exact amount that you owe, you can try to dispute this with the credit bureaus. You will get a sample dispute letter at http://www.creditmagic.org/repair/dispute-letter.html .

However, if you don't have any such proof, you can send debt validation letter to the collection agency. You will get sample validation letter at http://www.creditmagic.org/repair/sampleletter-debtvalidation.html . If they will send you the validation, you can then send 623 dispute to the collection agency.

Send the letters through certified mail, requesting a return receipt (CMRRR). Wait for some time, and then pull a copy of your credit report to check the account balance.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron
