I've been having problems with this cbe group too. wanting me to pay a certain amount on hospital bill or pay the full amount of 7,542.oo told them i cant pay that. so what I'm thinking about doing is just send 50.00 a month to the hospital instead of this cbe group. does anyone have any other suggestions.
If the hospital has already sold the debt to CBE group, there is no use paying the hospital $50 each month, since at present you owe the money to the collection agency and not the hospital. Now, if you cannot pay the entire amount, I think that you should settle the debt for 40 to 50% of the outstanding amount and pay it off. However, if they agree to settle the debt for less, get the settlement offer in writing.
Yes, I agree with Justin. But you should first check how old is your debt, because if the Statute of Limitation on the debt has already expired then you are not legally liable for the debt and the creditor cannot sue you for the money. However, it it has not yet expired, then you can contact your creditor for a settlement plan and pay it off.

I too have been getting the calls and one time I did answer. Not disputing I owe the bill, but I will not give my personal info, SS# and bank info out over the phone. Told them to mail me something,so I can begin payments!!! Well this guy refuses to mail me anything........I've been through credit identity once, it was a nightmare, never again. Does anyone know if they have an email or website???

There are too many scams going on these days with so-called debt collectors. The law states that whoever is trying to collect a debt has an obligation to prove to you that you owe the debt. If they cannot or will not provide you this information, or give you a "story" about not having those records, I would suggest you tell them to shove off. If they continue to harass you, you may file a complaint with the State's Attorney General. Debt collection agencies must operate within the law and unfortunately most people do not know the law, so these agencies resort to some pretty unscrupulous tactics to get what they want, which is nothing short of your money.

I keep seeing calls from them on my caller ID. I didn't know who they were until I looked them up on line. I don't owe anybody and have never had a bill turned over to a collection agency. How do I stop them from calling three and four times a day?

Hi Furious:
It is better to send them a letter than contact them over the phone. Their address :
Address: 131 Tower Park Dr Ste 100
City: Waterloo
State: IA
Zip: 50701-9374.
However, they have different addresses for different cities. So, you can check out.
Lucille:
You can send them a "Debt validation letter". You can use the sample letter at http://www.creditmagic.org/repair/sampleletter-debtvalidation.html .
Hope this helps.
Regards.
