My wife has two credit card balances on her report. Both of them are past the statute of limitations dates. Can anybody tell me if these items can be removed from the credit report? Thanks in advance.

Hi Gopher,

The expiration of Statute of Limitations (SOL) has nothing to do with removal of items from your report. Expiration of Statute of Limitations means that you cannot get sued by the creditor or collection agency. However, the collection process can continue after expiration of the SOL.

The items cannot be disputed by you. Only if you pay the dues, and request the creditor to report it as "Paid", your credit may increase by some points.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Aaron
