He needs to immediately file a dispute with all three credit reporting agencies, if they will not cooperate then he should ge the attorney generals office in your state involved. This should be an easy fix, is there some way that he can get the paperwork to prove this is not his judgement and send a copy to the credit reporting agencies along with the dispute.
Filing a dispute is easy, go to each of the three credit reporting agencies websites and pull a dispute form off of each of them, I think in this case if you can get the paperwork proof, then you should pull the paper dispute form from the websites and mail it in. Filing it online will not allow you to submit the necessary proof.
Hopefully, you can get this straightened out pretty quickly. You can always pick up the phone and call the credit reporting agencies and ask them the best way to handle it also, their numbers are on their websites also.
This is such a common mistake. I would not advise anyone to ever give their child a common name or one the same as a relative. You need to do the disputes as soon as possible (your uncle needs to) and start contacting some of these creditors and advise them of the errors. My hubby went through this nightmare and his middle name was even different BUT the same inital. I pity anyone in this situation. It can and will be cleared up just be prepared for the legwork your uncle will have to put into this to clarify matters
I just had a guy in the office today because the bank kept screwing up his bank account, he wanted his unemployment direct deposit stopped because his bank kept messing up his account. There is another guy with his same name and another one with a similar name, funny thing is I heard hime ask for an account number on the phone and the teller told him that he did not have an account. This is a big bank in town, he had all his checking account information there with him, clearly he had an account, I truly understood his frustration and helped him stopped the direct deposit.
goodnatured this world needs more people like you in it. Now I understand why you have the user name it fits you perfect. That was a nice thing you did helping that man. When she told him he had no account I bet he freaked out. I know I would have. With the economy in the mess it's in. Someone could have figured out how to rob him blind and then closed his account. I'm sure with your help you probably saved him a lot of worry.
