Is workers comp exempt from garnishment ,

I won a large workers comp section 32 settlement and got the check in dec, all was fine but twice in the last 4 days a creditor has garnished over 8k . I thought that workers comp could not be garnished in ny ? I have contacted a lawyer and he is currently working on it but I just saw the last 8k after the office was closed and can't get in touch with anyone

Yes, workers compensation is exempted from garnishment. That means creditors can’t garnish your worker compensation benefits.

Twice in the last week a creditor " rubin and rothman" has garnished over 8k of my account . They did it first on the 10th and I called them to tell that that it is a workers comp settlement , they said ok show proof . Then on the 14th they took another 8300 . I've contacted a lawyer and he says he would see what they will settle. Any idea of how to just get my accounts unfroze ?

Contact with your bank and close down your old bank account. If required open a new one to stop debiting money from your account.
