My husband divorced after 39 years of marriage (she left him) and was paying $800 alimony monthly.
At the age of 65, she began to get half of his SS benefits ($1000). She still wants to get her alimony, and her attorney filed for garnishment of my husband's SS.
How can they garnish his SS, if he pays for the house and all the bills from his SS? How can they garnish if he does not have ability to pay?
How can he survive, being a 71 yo disabled war veteran?
Social security can’t be garnished. If they do the same, then immediately file a complaint against them to the SAG or FTC. Consult with an attorney asap.
