I am a struggling college student, living on my own, and working two jobs. One of my jobs is on campus, which is from work study. The program is government funded/ financial aid. The collection agency is already taking 25% from my other job, and now they are going to be taking 25% from my financial aid. This adds up to 50% of my wages. I don't earn much from both jobs, nor from my pell grants. I am basically destitute. I have bills and rent to pay, which I am already struggling to pay. My father is homeless and can't help me, so I am forced to pay for all my expenses myself. What should I do? Is there any way I could get my debt reduced? The debt is about $3000.
See, CAs will go after debts that they've spent on. They don't always care about what'd right and what's wrong. You have a few options to choose from - set up a self-repayment plan with your creditor, enroll with a professional debt relief company or file for bankruptcy. If they obtain a judgment against you, they may garnish your wages or property.
