Bank Of America
Hi computerguy,
First thing you should do about it is to know the SOL of your state. If SOL has expired then you need not worry. However if it hasn't expired then you should first send a cease and desist letter to the law office telling them that you wish to contact the original creditor. Contacting the original creditor and settling your dues is a much easier option. If the CA don't comply to your request tell them that you can sue them under FDCPA rules.
After this you can contact the original creditor, the bank; and ask for your debt validation. If the debt is valid then send them a "pay for deletion letter". This is sent to a creditor before you negotiate with the creditor for a repayment plan. If the creditor agrees for "pay for delete", the negative listing gets removed from the report once the debt is paid in full. However you should remember to do all these through certified mail to keep a proof that they agreed to remove the negative listing.
Hope this will help you.
Regards,
Aaron.
