Hi,
I'm a recent college grad, and I went to pull my credit and found 9 medical bills in my collections on my credit report. These collections went back from when I was a student in High school, to my 4 years in college. I never received any bills for any of these collections. They are all from the same collection agency and all of the bills are way under $200.00.
I would have paid all 9 bills off if someone had contacted me or my family. I have never had a credit card and really don't have any credit history besides these 9 collections. I will gladly pay these bills off but I don't know how to request them to agree in writing to remove the 9 items after they have received payment. Some of these bills are $60.00. I would have paid them off and so would my parents if we received any sort of invoice or collections call/letter.
I can't get a job now because of my credit for my career field is in the government and most agencies won't hire you if your credit score is below 400. I wish I would have checked my credit sooner but I was naive and believed that you should only check your credit if you have credit cards and loans.
I have a few loans from college and that is why i wanted to check my credit score finally. I pay them on time every month and I haven't missed a bill, but my score hasn't changed. I hired Lexington Law to help me but they will not provide me with the means or a letter to write to this collection agency in order to have them agree to delete all knowledge of my collection bills from my credit records after receipt of payment from me.
Also this collection agency wouldn't even respond to my letters (3 months went by and i didn't receive a response), so I decided to try again and this time send certified letters and then within 5 days I got a response from them. They don't pick up their phones, I am always on hold, and their email address never goes through. I really don't know what to do.
So if someone could help me find a letter/document that explains exactly what to say to this collection agency to have them remove all these collections after I pay them off, then I would greatly appreciate it. I just want to be able to get a job and practice what I studied in college.
