Where are my post going? I have asked a couple questions and keep having them removed. I know they are not off topic because they have to deal with the subject. Is anyone else having the problem of disappearing posts. Last night I asked the community if the SOL went by the state of the debt or the state of the the credit card agreement and can not find it this morning when I went to see if their was a response.
I also asked if all three reporting agencies should list the same fall off dats and can not find that post either. My questions seem to get deleted.

Hi Chelsia
Creditors or the collection agencies do not generally send you letters confirming that your debt is fully paid. To verify whether they have updated with the credit bureaus, you need to pull out your credit report and check it. Normally the credit report is updated as "paid" as soon as you pay it off. However, if they have not updated it, you can send dispute letters to the bureaus asking them to remove the listing.

Hi Hitesh
First of all why do you require such letter? Is it because you have fallen behind your mortgage payments and you want to avoid foreclosure. If it is the case, then you need to send a hardship letter to the creditor. If you want to get a sample hardship letter/loan modification letter, you can visit the link loan modification letter

You need to send a debt validation letter and not a debt verification letter, to the creditor. Debt validation means that the creditor or the collection agency must prove that they own your debt. As a proper debt validation they should send you a copy of the original agreement form and the details of the outstanding bills.

You can call the creditor whom you have just paid once you have paid or even before and ask for a letter for your records showing that the debt has been paid in full, You can get it but the creditor want volunteer it. once it has been paid and recorded they will send it to you when you call and ask. I am a credit repair agency president. Hope that helps.

Debt Validation/Pay for Deletion Letters???

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the site (although I have been reading all the great advice for the past week or so). I have a question regarding the "Debt Validation" & "Pay for Delete" letters. Section 809 of the FDCPA explains the consumer's rights to demand that the CA requesting the information show proof that they actually own the debt. However, my understanding of this is that the DV can only be sent within the 30 day window upon initial receipt of the letter from the CA. Is this correct? Or can you send a DV letter even if

1.) Youâ€™ve received notices in the past and
2.) You've never made a single payment?

Also, in regards to the "Pay for Delete" letter (paragraph1), is it pretty much an unspoken rule that you deny the account up front?
What if you acknowledge the account but would still like to negotiate your payment, do you stil use this paragraph?

Any knowledgeable advice is much appreciated.

Debt Collection

I wish I knew about these things earlier.

Couple of mnths ago I received a collection debt on my experian report.

The thing was, landlord asked me not to cancel the electricity and gas connection and she would take care of it.... She didnt and I came to know about that after 6 mnths (as I moved from there).

As soon as I came to know about it, I called them and paid in full using my credit card.

That was a mistake... a big one...

I should have sent a mail like this before paying in full.

Letter to Creditors regarding divorce

My ex husband has fallen behind on payments to the house we once shared. The loan is under both our names, but seeing as he was the one who wanted to keep the house, I quit claimed it to him per the divorce decree as he was also listed on their to be the sole person responsible for the payments. The banks do not recognize a divorce decree as I had originally signed the documents to make payment.

My question is, if I provide the creditors with a copy of my divorce decree indicating that their was a judgement that proves I'm not responsible for the payments, will that help restore my credit? My ex is going to let the house go into foreclosure and it has already impacted my credit. Please help.

Hi chor and moon:

If you have already paid the debt, then it won't be that easy to remove the item from your credit report. Once you have paid the dues, the creditor or the collection agency won't want to work with you anymore in relation to that account. However, if the account is showing zero balance on your credit report, then you need not worry.

Moon, you could have requested the creditor or the collection agency to agree to a "Pay for delete" agreement during the settlement.

Yes, you should immediately send a dispute letter to the creditor, along with the copy of the divorce decree indicating that you are no more responsible for the payments.

I am afraid that paid collections cannot be removed from your credit report. They are going to stay there on your report for 7 years, after which they are going to fall off their own.

Can you give more details on your credit? Are the accounts you are talking about paid? If so, then perhaps the creditors won't want to work out with you for removing the negatives.

Student Loans

is there anything I can do about a pesky student loan on education I didn't get?

I attended a school for ultrasound technology in Houston and was able to get grants and loans to pay for my $25,000 tuition, however in the last semester there I failed ONE of my classes and was refused the ability to retake the class so I could finish my 2 yr associates degree.

I tried to transfer out and finish up, but no other schools 'recognized' the credits I had already finished and was told over and over I would have to START OVER and pay AGAIN for the same education I already had.

It's going on 10 yrs and I still owe $7,500 working a mediocre job. I have a mortgage and truck note along with other bills and I feel this one is uncoming being so I didn't benefit from it and I do NOT have a job in the field I went to school for.

From today, a new process has been started for creditmagic members, according to which after taking redemption for magic points, the points for which redemption has been taken will be deducted from the total magic points and the remaining magic points of the members will be shown on the creditmagic page with the postings of each members. 'Annual Report' is good. first time I used them was last year. Also.....you can 'dispute' items, USING Annual Report. That way you can see your credit for free AND make 'corrections'.

I use it too, I use one about every four months that way you can see if any changes are made, there are three different ones so if you space them out you can keep the year about covered.

I just used annualcreditreport for the third time about a month ago and I always dispute my credit my mail as apposed to the net just because it is the easiest way to provide proof along with your dispute. You can also request a corrected up-to-date copy of your credit report everytime you dispute something so I have always just spaced out my disputes so I am getting to see my credit reports more than once a year. But I really like goodnatured's process above as well and I think I'll start doing that way in the future. I'm sure it's best to dispute something wrong on your credit as soon as you spot it.

Although even while going through annualcreditreport you have to be cautious. there are so many sneeky attempts by the credit bureaus on their websites to get you to sign up for credit monitoring services or getting your credit score for a fee. If you're just out to get your free credit report you shouldn't have to enter any credit card or debit card numbers so if they ask you then you probably selected something you don't really want.

When you go through annualcreditreport.com one of the first selections you make is which credit bureau(s) you wish to get your report from. If you only select one at a time you can space it out so every four months you are getting to see one of your credit reports. The law states that you are able to get a copy of each of your three major credit bureau reports once a year but it doesn't state that you have to order all three at once.

Its always great to see a negative account fall off of your credit report! I just have a little over two more years to go and I will be rid of my bankrupcty showing on my reports. I'm sure I'll be doing a little dance when that day comes.

I have two years myself for the collection on my report. the other one falls off this july. Some stupid doc. office bill that shouldn't even be there cause at the time I had full medical. Its only like $40 but I haven't heard from any collection place about it and since it falls off shortly, I figure thats good enough.

I just joined a few months ago myself. I found this site has really helped me more than anything. When you start getting collection calls you worry yourself to death. some people do not relize there are places on the net like this. it is noce to have other people in the same situation to talk to and the moderaters to help them out.

Great in put there anthony. Cmb Believe me I could wait that long. I have one that is not gonna fall off for a couple years. That is my worse demon. Even though it is past SOL the junk collectors who keep passing it around drive me crazy. Most of them don't even want to make a reasonable deal so I don't pick up the phone or check my report more than three times a year anyway.

Actually what I meant to say is that interaction increases knowledge and helps us to deal with out debts better. More is the interaction, the more is the information that comes up. It is not the question of solving only the present debt but also to be aware of the future situations.

Yes, one credit report is free in a financial year from each of the three credit reporting agencies as per the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You can order the free report either by visiting their website or by calling their toll free number. All you need to provide is your name, address, social security number and date of birth.

I think it is wise to ask for the free report from each of these CRAs as each of these CRAs get information from different sources and so the information in the CR of one CRA may not be exactly the same as that of the other. This does not necessarily mean that the info provided by any of these agencies are incorrect, but they may be different.

What is the price usually for purchasing your report? I need to do this to find out my score, I can not find a site that will give me my score for free, I found a free report but no score with it. Does anyone know where I can find one that provides the score for free or a descently priced one?

I dont think that you get a free annual score, Just the report. FIreyone, as long as you call the number the credit monitoring company provides and cancels you shouldn't have a problem. Just get the reps name and a conf number

I think they ask for the credit cards for verification purpose, as by using the card number they can get your details more easily. I don't think they will charge for the free report from your card account.

What happens if you don't have a credit card. I have a couple store ones and my bank visa but will any of those work? I am soo wary of using my checking account one. Theres not much in there but its a least something.

A bank visa will work fine. If you are afraid of them removing unauthorized funds why dont you but a refillable visa? Throw 40 bucks on it to buy the 3CBS reports and the FICO score etc and not worry if they try to pull more unauthorized cash. Just makesure you call and cancel any services they might have slipped into the terms of service agreement

I have found more information by simply googling credit repair, some people have some really good personal web pages and blogs out there on personal credit repair, they have worked through the whole process and will post their experience on the web page or blog. And then there are always forums like this one.

I really like the idea of the refillable visa. I am always wary in this day and time using my bank card on the net. I know it is suppose to be secure but the way these hackers come up with new stuff everyday really freaks me out. I have to agree with Carol and goodnatured. I too was soo lost when I came here. I never knew half the rules to the game or all my rights. It was nice to be put on track. One of the best things was the SOLS. This is not because I don't want to pay those bills. It is just that I probaly would have just started to pay off the lowest balance accounts, which were the ones that the SOL had expired. Now after learning what I have I see that is is better to pay the ones that are a bigger danger of suing you. This site gives people the information to find a starting point in credit repair.

I too find a large number of spam links posted in this forum now a days. I don't know who does this. However, the creditmagic admin is alert enough to delete these links as soon as they appear in the forum. Now 42 is young, young lady, at least to me. These ladies are right about being young at heart. You have a four year old, she will have you out doing what four year olds do, so you can take the 2 off 42, You sound alot younger than what I remember 42 being.

I seem to have turned a poetess. I have been writing cards so jingles are just coming to my mind so easily. :)

If you come up with a jingle or poem that sticks, you can sell those to greeting card companies, no joke. just be sure to protect your property somehow. my mom did that once, she loved this poem years a go that she wrote and someone stole it and she found it in a card. :(
